$43 Million Found In Nigerian Apartment Is Certain to Spawn a Million Jokes

We’re going to get this out of the way now: the following news is like a punchline about those Nigerian prince email scams.

Ahem. According to CTV News, $43 million was found in an empty apartment in Nigeria. A source claimed that a “haggard” woman appeared at the apartment sometimes with big bags. The Nigerian anti-corruption unit — which acted on a tip — ultimately found US$43 million in U.S. bills, US$35,000 in U.K. pounds and US$75,000 in Nigerian naira.

Tipsters who lead to successful busts can be entitled to “anywhere between 2.5 per cent and 5 per cent of the amount recovered.”

Nigeria has had a few of these sorts of headlines lately. Last December, two sisters made headlines for blackmailing a Nigerian millionaire.
